If the first week is any indication of how the rest of 2017 will go, I am beyond okay with it. This week has been full of family, friends, laughs, and standing on rooftops in full glam being so extra. J and I rung in the new year at the Mint listening to live music and catching up with friends. The next day I had the itch to do a blog shoot like we used to do all the time. The first blog shoot we ever did was on the rooftop of our first apartment together, and we’ve done them on the roof of every building we’ve lived in since. It only felt appropriate to start the new year here. 🙂
I’ve been obsessed with this checked faux fur coat from Anthropologie lately, it’s impossible to feel anything other than glamorous while wearing it! I love that it makes a statement on it’s own without being so overpowering that I have to be super selective about when to wear it. I decided to just go for it and pair it with a faux leather fringe skirt and the longest string of pearls I own. The skirt was an impulse buy, I stopped by Nordstrom to return something else and left with it and a few other fun new pieces. The pearls were a gift from J’s mom, and I’ve been wearing them a ton! They are so fun to wrap up and style them a hundred different ways.
My little sister, Mackenzie has been in town this week, and we’ve been jetting around all over LA. My favorite thing about having guests is exploring, and seeing the city through fresh eyes. It always reaffirms my love for this crazy town. It was an extra special, double dose of family since we had just returned from a week-long stay in the Bay Area with family over Christmas. I’m just about finished with a recap post from the holidays where I’ll also be sharing some of my favorite spots to visit when I’m up there! I hope everyone had a fantastic start to 2017, I can’t wait to see what this year has in store!
Outfit details, direct and links, and similar pieces will all be at the bottom of this post, as per usual!
